Gurmeet Sandhu ਜਦੋਂ ਤਕ ਨਿਰੋਲ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਚ ਹਾਇਕੂ ਲਿਖਣ ਦੀ ਬਚਨਵੱਧਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਥਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ "ਹਾਇਕੂ ਦੀ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਚ ਰਸਾਈ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਹੋਵੇ" ਮੁਖ ਮਸਲੇ ਵਲ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਅਪਣਾਈ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ। ਮੈਂ ਵੇਖ ਰਿਹਾਂ ਇਥੇ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਗਰੁਪਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਇਕੋ ਸਮੇਂ ਓਹੀ ਹਾਇਕੂ ਪੋਸਟ ਹੋ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ....ਲਿਖਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਵੀ ਓਹੀ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਕਾਮੈਂਟ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਵੀ ਓਹੀ....ਕਈਆਂ ਹਾਲਤਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਤਾਂ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਵਿਚ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਹਾਇਕੂ ਦਾ ਤਰਜਮਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਵੀ ਹੋੜ ਵੀ ਲਗੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ....ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਵਿਚ ਬੇਸ਼ੁਮਾਰ ਹਾਇਕੂ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।ਇਸੇ ਸੰਦਰਭ ਵਿਚ ਅੰਗਰੇਜੀ ਦੀ ਇਕ ਕਵਿਤਰੀ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਨੋਟ ਵੀ ਵਾਚਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ...
yes I show restraint too, especially when I see poets who struggle to express their haiku in english as a second language. . My admiration for their attempts even as I realize the haiku may be better expressed in their own language which I can't read. I don't read the page-length free verse poems. Haiku to me, at least, needs to appreciated one poem at a time, unless it's on the same theme.

- Dalvir Gill Ok, let's get back to the point. I just want to emphasize my request that there's no need to deactivate this Group. Sathi Sahib, I've felt is the most flexible with the rules as Jane has been in English. I've posted her write-up on the "Use of Metaphor in Haiku" and we can have another look at the "Haiku rules that have come and gone." All I'm trying to say is that Haiku is a power device and Punjabi should adapt it, not just translate it as directed by English Scholars.

A couple of years ago, PH did try to start a group, meant only for discussions ( not sure if it still exists ). Members shouldn't mind if their posts get deleted because they weren't worth any discussion.
- Dalvir Gill We have seen that every single RULE that we had been told was overstepped by the father/s of classical haiku. For Punjabi, we can write haiku first, and then check if it's mere poetry or Haiku, and for that we have to establish certain guide-lines, and doing that we cann't and we shouldn't ignore the output/input thus far. ( Now we have more than one collection of Haiku in Punjabi language along with thousands of haiku posted on the Fb. )

- Dalvir Gill Please don't think about the past. Present is beautiful, let's keep it like that. . This is a really important issue, Dhido Gill has raised, otherwise, this has been a pattern with me too that I start with a great enthusiasm and get frustrated and then go away for quite a while then come back to see that everything has changed, and rarely a betterment. We can't follow English, nor Japanese. Mahiye De Tappe, come very close but there's a flood of emotions and Haiku tries to stay away. ( In Theatre Brecht, a leftist, developed a theory which is Anti-Aristotle in it's essence, for he didn't believe in the "expurgation of emotions" through Theatre, the very purpose of Theatre, according to 'Poetics'. Haiku is anti-poetry in that sense.)

ਮੇਰੀ ਮਿੰਨਤ ਇਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਅਲੋਪ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਅਖਾਉਤਾਂ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਹਾਇਕੂ, ਕਿਸੇ ਲੇਖ ਜਾਂ ਕਵਿਤਾ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵੀ ਵਧੀਆ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿਓਂਕਿ ਕਵਿਤਾ 'ਚ ਤਾਂ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਗੱਲ ਦਾ ਸਿਧਾ ਮਤਲਬ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਰ ਹਾਇਕੂ ਗੱਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੀ ਸਿਧੀ ਪਧਰੀ ਹੈ ਇਥੇ ਸੱਪ ਦਾ ਮਤਲਬ ਸੱਪ ਹੀ ਹੈ, ਪਾਠਿਕ ਨੂੰ ਇਸਦੇ ਅਰਥ ਲਭਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਤੁਰਨਾਂ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੇ ਕਾਮੁਕ ਵਲਵਲੇ ਦੀ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ਜਾਂ ਕੁਝ ਹੋਰ, ਓਹ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਗੱਲ ਸੱਪ ਦੀ ਹੀ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ l
